Kisha Kinard and her family own Sweetgrass Roots a small farm dedicated to the preservation of sweetgrass basketry and other crafts. They travel regionally for lectures and workshops on sweetgrass productionand basket making. Read about Sweetgrass Roots and Kisha’s full story here.This workshop will include all the materials to make a small sweetgrass basket: starter basket (round) to be used to create a small fruit basket with a handle, sweetgrass, palmetto fronds; tools (scissor and nailbone) are provided but are to be returned at the end of the class.The workshop will last about two hours and will open with a brief introduction followed by the hands-on session and a discussion of sweetgrass basketry during the session. This class is not appropriate for children.Costs for the workshop (including all materials) is $70.00Class size is limited.
