Black History Month

 

Historic Rosedale’s history is filled with strong and interesting African American individuals. Our 200 year old Federal home is rich in tales of enslaved blacksmiths and cooks; Gullah caretakers and war vetrans. To celebrate Black History Month, we’ll take a look at a variety of those African Americans who left an indelible mark on Historic Rosedale. Our regular house tours will spotlight information on individuals like¬†Jefferson Caldwell who was born at Rosedale in 1838 and later was willed a 48.5-acre tract of Rosedale property that he managed, along with his wife Margaret, until his death in 1925.¬† House tours are availablbe Thursday – Sunday at 1:30 and 3:00.
